Biography:

Born in Rotterdam, Wout Hoeboer trained at the Rotterdam Academy. He belonged to several 20th century artistic movements, including dadaïsm, surrealism, the CoBrA movement, nuclear art and free thinking, but as Jean Drypeau wrote of Hoeboer's work, "It was above all the heritage of Dada that he wished to preserve". In 1956, the Phantomos review published the first reproductions of Wout Hoeboer's work. During his artistic career, he moved from figurative art to abstraction. He combined collages and painting in his works.
