Biography: 

Born Jean-Baptiste Retserveldt in Paris. He showed an interest in drawing and painting at a young age and studied at the École des Beaux-Arts de Liège.
His geometric abstract style was defined in the 1950s. In 1956, he founded the « Formes » group and in 1959 became a founder member of the « Art Construit » group, under the presidency of Jo Delahaut. He has created several urban art works, including that in the Arts-Loi metro station of Brussels and a stained-glass window in the Guillemins station of Liège. His work has remained true to his personality and today he is one of the Belgian representatives of geometric abstraction.
