Gaston Bertrand

Today, Bertrand is a painter of international reknown. He was born in 1910 in Wonck-sur-Geer, Belgium, where developed an early interest in drawing and then painting. With Louis Van Lint and Anne Bonnet, he created the "Route Libre" group which met with limited success. In 1945 he was one of the founder members of the Jeune Peinture Belge. He quickly distinguished himself from the other artists through his schematization of shapes with a tendency towards geometric abstraction.
